Below are different examples of posters which I will use as an archetype when producing mine as I will be aiming to replicate the professional qualities they hold.

For example, in The Lovely Bones there is a definite clash between dark and light which is a clear example of binary opposites between good and evil. The fact the man is cast in a dark shadow making him a silhouette connotes mystery, secrets, threat. He is looking directly at the brightly dressed girl who is illuminated by the sun. She appears innocent and curious when looking at the man. This makes her seem vulnerable as she seems to be unaware of any danger that this shadowed character hold.
I will use this poster as one of my style models when producing my own as it holds the same conventions and a similar theme in relation to the dark elements of my film
In the film Frantic, Harrison Ford's wife gets abducted which relates to the theme that is portrayed in my short film titled "Missing". Low key lighting is seen in this poster too which is a common code of posters from this genre of mystery/thriller. Both characters are giving the audience eye contract which suggests they both have a story to tell. However, Harrison Ford has a concerned, focussed expression which gives subtle hints to his role within the film. His wife has a vacant expression which makes her look like the victim within this film. The tag line from the film uses a rule of three which sets the mood that this is a deadly serious film that will thrill the audience. The one word title of the film is on that we have replicated as we believe it is the most effective for this specific genre of film.
When producing my film poster I will show clear examples of low key lighting to show the contrast in character roles. I will also attempt to use a rule of three tag line to the same effect that it is used in the above poster 'Frantic'.
My second auxiliary task will be double page spread that would feature in film magazines such as Empire and Film. The article will be aimed at a target audience who have an interest in the thriller/mystery genre and will include reviews and a synopsis of the film trying to persuade them to come and see the film.
The double page spread can take shape in a number of forms. There may even be a larger image taking pride place in the centre of the page and then a small amount of text if the film, for example, was part of a large franchise like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter there may be little information required is the audience is well educated when it comes to the storyline and nature of the film.
However, I have decided to produce an article interviewing one of that actors of my film which will be portrayed to be a large A-list actress. This means the article would be trying to sell the film as the audience would come to see them
The first double page spread will be the design I will aim to replicate as my feature film will be relatively un-known and I want to try and promote the film in the best way and the most effective way possible. Due to the mystery nature of my film, however, I will be cautious when including a synopsis as I do not wish to reveal the entire plot
